Introduction Miles City is present at the confluence of the Tongue and Yellowstone rivers in the fertile Yellowstone River Valley. Miles City is an important center of commerce for most of the eastern Montana. Montana is in Custer County and the community was named after the leader Gen. Nelson Appleton Miles, who led campaigns against Indian tribes.
Its strategic location along Interstate 94 and state highways connecting both North & South, Miles City has numerous motor freight carriers, and an airport accommodating commuter jet service and corporate planes.
Montana has a total area of 8.5 km² (3.3 mi²) land. It receives an avergae annual rainfall of 14 inches and snowfall of 31 inches.
