Anaconda : Montana

Located in southwest Montana, Anaconda is the county seat of  Anaconda-Deer Lodge County.  The Continental Divide passes within a few miles of the community with local Northern Rocky Mountain peaks reaching a height of 10,379 feet.
It was in Anaconda that the Anaconda Company began its mining venture in 1884. The community was in fact named after the company.
Summers are cooler and winters are warmer in Anaconda than the area east of the Continental Divide.The average annual temperature is 42.96° F  and it receives an average annual rainfall of 14 inches.
